Youth Talk Event – May 11, 2007
CHAWAKUA recently held a ‘Youth Talk’ event in May.  The Youth Talk event was held at the Momella National Park in Arusha.  CHAWAKUA hosted 165 vulnerable youth to a day of fun and education.  CHAWAKUA took the youth on a safari to the local park to see Tanzania’s wildlife; Giraffe, Buffalo, Baboon, Warthog and Hippos.

After the safari, CHAWAKUA placed the youth in three large teams in order to build friendship and camaraderie amongst each other. The youth played games of tug-of-war, football, and a local Swahili game called Nage.

At the end of the day, the youth were assigned to five groups, and were treated to educational workshops.  The theme of the educational workshops was ‘Relationships and Good Decision Making’.  CHAWAKUA wanted to stress the importance for youth to make good decisions in terms of their relationships and sexual choices.   It was a great experience for all who attended!
